CASTLES There are more castles in Wales than any other country.
Cardigan Castle opened a few years ago after a huge award winning renovation project. Carreg Cennen, near Llandeilo is in a stunning location with a cave underneath. Kidwelly Castle, is an impressive 12th century castle. Newcastle Emlyn only has a few remaining walls left but is in a picturesque grassy site overlooking a loop on the River Teifi. Laugharne Castle was established in the early twelfth century as an earthwork and is located close to the town with many pubs and cafes in the picturesque location made famous by Dylan Thomas.

This area has a very high proportion of artists and crafts people, and this is reflected in the amount of galleries and craft shops selling unique locally made arts and crafts. There are also many local producers of fine foods, with an emphasis on the natural, organic and traditional methods of production, these are often available from the farm gate (or makers premises) and local markets as well as shops.

"We came here in 2010 and it is still absolutely lovely. The cottage was perfect for our needs, so peaceful with lovely walks nearby. The community shop at Capel Dewi was handy and also we enjoyed the art exhibition (only during the last week of August) and were overwhelmed with all the creativity.
